This method is especially valuable for Old Master paintings (such as those by Cranach, Raphael, Dürer, and Giotto) created on wood panels, which was the dominant medium until the 17th century.

• How It Works:
  Trees form annual rings (thick in favorable years, thin during drought/cold). The process requires 100+ rings for reliable matching and is cross-referenced with established master chronologies (e.g., European oak dating to 5000 B.C.).
• Limitations:
  This method is best for Oak panels (Western Europe/N. America) and is less effective in regions where reference data is scarce.
