Died: 1523, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, aged 53.

He spent most of his life in China, particularly in Suzhou and the Yangtze River Delta region, which was a cultural hub during the Ming dynasty. He also briefly travelled to Beijing in his youth and spent time in other areas of Jiangsu Province.

Tang Yin was a versatile artist known for his figure paintings, especially portraits of beautiful women, scholars, and historical figures. He also created landscapes, flowers, and bird paintings, often incorporating symbolic elements associated with literati culture.

Tang Yin’s humanist approach set his work apart, particularly his sensitive portrayal of figures. His depictions of women—elegant and lyrical—were especially rare and celebrated in Chinese painting of the time.

Tang Yin is renowned for his refined brushwork and expressive, graceful compositions. His figure paintings are distinguished by delicate lines and soft facial features, while his landscapes feature flowing brushstrokes and ink washes to create a sense of depth and atmosphere.
